Ok so every December instead of giving Christmas presents, my boyfriend & I travel together. And this past December, we decided we would be traveling to Thailand! So I’m here to share about where we went & what we enjoyed!
Ok, full disculsoure…I had been to the Phi Phi Islands before. I did a solo backpacking trip in Southeast Asia a few years ago & this happened to be one of my stops. However, it was so much more fun with my travel bud.
So we (my boyfriend & I) actually have a pretty strong record of winning beer pong competitions while traveling….long story but it’s a thing. So we won a beer pong here & actually the prize was a free boat trip which was ideal. We stayed at a beach hostel & spent like $10/night to stay in a dorm of 12 people haha. So on our next step we got a little boujee.
In Koh Lanta we decided to splurge a little & stay at 5-star resort….a big jump from the sand covered dorm room in the Phi Phi Islands. Oh & by “splurge” I mean that our entire 3 room suite here was like $75/night.
Really all we did was lay by the pool, go to the beach, & day dream about work + life. All in all, a really great fancy portion of the trip.
And then we were off to Krabi Town. The only non-beachy stay of our trip. Though there was a beach about 20 minutes away, we mostly stuck to the city. We also did a little sunset hike up to see Tiger Cave Temple & these gorgeous views. And really it was more of a million stairs than an actual hike buuuuut still amazing views.
Probably the most scared I’ve been in a while was when we were walking back down from the temple. There were a bunch of monkey’s all over the place here & since we went up to the temple for sunset, it was mostly dark on the way down. So all you could hear were the monkey’s growling in the darkness. Yeah…not a fan.
Ok, ok, ok. Obviously every part of this trip was my favorite but this was my favorite favorite. Ko Yao Noi is a super small island with a very low-key vibe. So we decided to rent a scooter.
Barring a couple very, very small crash…we really didn’t have any problem learning how to drive on the left side of the road. The rental process was a little sketch because we literally didn’t have to sign anything or put down a deposit….But still highly recommend renting a scooter in Thailand if you feel brave.
And the last stop on our Thailand adventure was Phuket! Which definitely has a reputation of being a party location. Not gonna lie, it lived up to that reputation.
